From early childhood, I have always loved art and been creative. Thanks in part to a loving mom, who involved me in arts and crafts activities as a child. During my teenage years, I discovered that I had a natural talent for drawing and reproducing on paper what my eyes and mind perceived. I became passionate about sketch art, drawing, and challenging myself to improve my pencil drawing techniques.
Throughout my teenage years, I took an interest in modeling, fashion design, and sewing. I found sewing to be a creative outlet to de-stress and relax. And the beauty of making my clothes was that I got to choose what I wanted in fabric and style. As a young college student on a budget, translating designs from sketches into clothing I made was a must-have skill. I became enthralled. Wouldn’t every young woman with that ability be?
Although I used to draw, I didn’t start painting until late in life. It all started because my brother Ricardo Crooks needed art to decorate his restaurant. He had commissioned a local artist to deliver eight oil paintings for the Cascades Restaurant in Roseville, California, before its grand opening. The oil paintings that he commissioned couldn’t be hung because they wouldn’t be dry by the date required. I was an investor and compelled to help and whipped out eight acrylic abstracts on short notice to replace them!
Much to my surprise, I finished on-time, and people liked my creations. There were even offers to purchase them right off the walls! And that’s how I became an artist and developed a passion for painting. I’ve been told that I breathe beauty, art, fashion, and design. And while I find that flattering, “I Truly Love All Things Art.” There is simply nothing better than celebrating this beautiful life through the expression of art!
Combining scientific knowledge with the expression of art and beauty offers my patients quality and optimal results. I believe a smile has the power to create a better future and feel blessed and grateful to have been able to transform the smiles and lives of many patients from the United States and abroad from my office in Sacramento, California.

Hi! I’m Dr. Monica Crooks DDS, Welcome! I decided to become a dentist as a child after my dad lost his sister to an infected tooth at a young age. The infection traveled to my aunt’s brain, causing a preventable tragedy that sadly still occurs today. People simply don’t know how dangerous a tooth abscess can become. I am determined to change this and education is a crucial part of my plan.
Growing up I was blessed with brilliant parents who taught me to imagine, build, create, sew, draw, paint, play musical instruments, sing, dance, and design. They told me that I could do anything I set my mind to, and I believed them. With God, an excellent education, and supportive, loving parents, by my side I set out to achieve excellence in dentistry.
Your teeth allow you to nourish yourself, enunciate in communication, and give you an approachable, and presentable appearance. Having functional, attractive, and healthy teeth is an essential part of having a healthy and fulfilled life.
I am an artist with an eye for color matching, form, and function. My skills as an artist combined with my training as a medical scientist and my creative mind of an engineer help me find out-of-the-box ways to restore health and function to my patient’s teeth. When you sit down in my chair, I become their partner in your journey towards the smile you want. No smile is a lost cause. I have been helping people live better lives through cosmetic dentistry for nearly 30 years.
Everyone should have healthy, beautiful teeth as part of their healthy, beautiful body. As my patient, there is no reason why this should not be possible. Give my office a call today so we can help you achieve your best smile.
