She is widely recognized as an extraordinary dental artist creating alluring smiles that enhance the appearances of her patients, including several media personalities and civic leaders. Not only is Dr. Crooks a dental artist, but she’s also a local fine artist, fashion designer, and successful entrepreneur.

Early Life

Born and raised in the disciplined environment of the United States Air Force, Dr. Crooks is a graduate of UCLA’s School of Dentistry, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. Upon graduation, she completed her General Practice Residency at David Grant USAF Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California — The U.S. Air Force’s largest medical facility on the west coast. Dr. Crooks spent five years in the Air Force as a dental officer, achieving the rank of Major before separating from the AF in 1985. After her tour of duty in the Air Force, she established her private practice in Sacramento, where she has been providing all forms of general and cosmetic dentistry since 1990.

Dr. Crooks prides herself on being active within the local community, always looking to educate her patients on the elimination of dental disease and the maintenance of their dental health. She believes that education is the key to empowerment, which is why she always sees to it that her patients fully understand their condition, the solutions she proposes, the pros and cons of those options, and above all, how her patients can prevent dental problems from recurring.

Today, you can find Dr. Crooks performing all aspects of cosmetic dentistry including invisible fillings, porcelain veneers, Lumineers, bonding, crowns, non-metal bridges, implant crowns, rapid and nearly invisible braces including Invisalign®, and her widely lauded smile makeovers.

Outside of the office, Dr. Crooks is extremely active in the dental community. She is an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and a member of the American Dental Association. She has been recognized for excellence in “Cosmetic Dentistry” by Muse Makeover.” She also is a professional portrait artist, having shown in galleries multiple times, and a vocalist who has performed with a local rock band at a number of public entertainment venues. Monica Crooks is also a powerful force behind a new women-owned start-up called MyLa’Cor Martinis which is a ready-to-drink vodka lemon martini coming to a store near you.

Dr. Crooks has a sister and brother-in-law who are also dentists in San Mateo, CA.
