DENTURES AND PARTIALS
The loss of a single tooth can compromise your eating habits, speech, and appearance. No one should be embarrassed to smile or have difficulties talking and chewing. Plus, if missing teeth are left unfilled, your remaining teeth will start to shift and move toward the space creating problems with your bite over time.
Dr. Monica Crooks offers many teeth replacement methods, full and partial dentures, implants, and bridges. Recent advances in technology have made dentures better than ever before.
If you have no teeth left, or if the teeth you have are damaged and diseased beyond repair, a complete set of dentures will be best for you. Your replacement teeth will be made of acrylic and custom-fitted to look just like your natural teeth or better.
There are several types of full dentures:
Standard: Designed for people who are missing all of their teeth.
Temporary: Placed over empty sockets to maintain the shape of your mouth while you wait on a more permanent solution.
Cu-Sil®: This denture is the simplest removable partial denture, and is created with openings to allow your remaining natural teeth to remain visible.
Overdentures: One or more removable teeth are inserted over the remains of your natural teeth. This is commonly performed after a root canal surgery.
If you are missing some but not all of your teeth or if you have voids on both sides of your arch, Dr. Monica Crooks can create a partial denture for you. The cost of partial denture depends on the extent of treatment needed. There are two different types of partial dentures, and both are removable:
Cast Metal: These are incredibly stable. Your teeth must be altered slightly so the RPD can fit on them without manipulating your bite. They are made of cast metal and fitted with acrylic teeth just for your mouth.
Flippers/ Stayplates: These are much simpler. An acrylic tooth is fastened to a plastic plate utilizing metal wire clasps to hold it into place.
